Order Of Operation- Junefia

Order of operation is our (rm7) new math topic for today. Solving these math question was pretty confusing and kind of hard with the brackets. I was really excited to test my brother if he has learned about order of operation but then… I had to teach him how to solve  the maths! I really understand more about these maths. I really hope I learn more HARD maths about different math topics.

Maths Problem Solving- Junefia & Janett

  1. There are 20 people on the bus.  A ¼ are children.  How many children are there?

There are 5 children on the bus.

¼ of 20= 5

5 X 4=20

2. There were 300 apples on the tree.   Janett eats ½ of them.  How many does she eat?

She ate 150 of the apples.

½ of 300= 150

150 X 2= 300

3. Mama has $5. She buys a nut bar for $1.10.

How much change does she get?

She gets $3.90 change. $5.00 - $1.10= $3.90.

Azalea has $10. She gets $4.60 change after buying a packet of rice biscuits.

How much do the biscuits cost?

The biscuits cost $5.40. $10.00 - $4.60= $5.40

Selu pays for $1.10 for two apples. She gets 90 cents change.

How much money did she give to the person at the checkout?

She gave $2.00 to the person at  the checkout. $1.10 + 90 cents= $2.00

On Monday, Moana, Junefia and Langiola shared some lollies they'd been given.

Junefia got half as many lollies as Moana, and Langiola got a third as many lollies as Moana got.

They got the same number of lollies each day up to Friday.

If Moana got 18 lollies on Wednesday, how many lollies did Junefia get on Thursday?

How many lollies did Langiola get that week?

Problem Solving Maths

  1. There are 289 decorations in the hall. 145 get stolen. How many decorations are left?

There are 144 left.  289-145=144.

2. There are 453 marbles in Tim's tin, Jo has 587 marbles. How many marbles are there altogether?

5. Miss Flower is greedy and eats 342 M&Ms on Saturday. She then eats 554 on Sunday. How many M&Ms has she eaten altogether?

She ate 896 altogether. 342 + 554= 896.

6. Marlene add five-sixths of a bag of soil to her garden. Her neighbor Janett add eleven-eighths bags of soil to her garden. How much more soil did Marlene add than Janett?

She add 2 5/24 much more than Janett.

They each get 1 and a half.

8. Pauliasi has one pizza that has 12 slices. He wants to share his pizza with his two brothers. How many slices will each boy have if they each have an equal amount?

They will each get 4 pieces of the pizza. 12 divided by 3= 4.

Maths Sheet- Multiplying and Dividing

 Multiplying and dividing

A)  Jason multiplied a number by 2 instead of dividing it by 2. The answer he got was 32. What should his answer have been?

His answer should have been 18.

32 divided by 2= 16

16 x 2= 32

B) When Sara multiplied a number by 3 instead of dividing it by 3, the answer she got was 36. What should her answer have been?

Her answer should have been 12.

36 divided by 3= 18

18 x 3= 36

C)  When Min multiplied a number by 5 instead of dividing it by 5, the answer she got was 100. What should her answer have been?

Her answer should have been 20.

100 divided by 5= 20

20 x 5= 100

Simplifying Fractions #2

Rm 7 was learning how to simplify proper fractions and improper fractions. Our teacher did the first two for each one so we can follow the steps that she used to solve it out, we were asked to answer the questions and record our voices but I didn't know how to do that so I explained it on google drawing. This activity was easier than our first task: multiplying, adding, subtracting, and dividing improper and proper fractions. This maths activity helped me with my multiplying and halving. This is what I did and I hope you learn something new as well!
Simplify proper fraction

2/6 =2x1 & 2x3= 13

4/16= 4x1 & 4x4= ¼

2/12= 2x1 & 2x6= ⅙

5/20=5x1 & 5x4= ¼

6/18= 6x1 & 6x3= ⅓

3/15= 3x1 & 3x5= ⅕

4/16=4x1 & 4x4= ¼

3/18= 3x1 & 3x6= ⅙

5/15= 5x1 & 5x3= ⅓

Simplify Improper fraction

8/3= 3x2+2=8 = 2 2/3

7/2= 2x3+1=7 = 3 ½

9/5= 5x1+4=9= 5 ⅘

5/4= 4x1+1=5= 4 ¼

10/3= 3x3+1=10= 3 ⅓

11/5= 5x2+1=11= 5 ⅕

13/4=4x3+1=13= 4 ⅓

8/7= 7x1+1=8= 7 1/7

15/7= 7x2+1=15= 7 1/7

Magic Fractions

In-Room 7, we have been learning to add, multiplication, division, and subtraction. We use all these strategies to solve magic fractions or mixed fraction. Magtegiesic fractions are when you use the strategies to solve fraction problems. For example 1/2 + 3/4= 4 + 6 = 10/8. Mixed fractions are when you add a whole number and a magic fraction with another whole number and a magic fractions. In this maths, activity is magic fraction and mixed fractions problems. We were told to show our work carefully so this is what I did with my buddy Janett. Hope you learn something from this maths activity!

Maths activity- mix fractions and magic fractions

We were learning to add, multiply, minus, an divide mix fractions with magic fractions. Our teacher gave us 6 questions to answer. We didn't understand a little so Mr Tafea made it easier for us to understand. Once we got it we got on with the fraction work, we were also told to show our work using strategies. This activity helps me with my multiplication and my additions.

Maths problem

Today we were excited to have two DMIC guests to observe our clever way of solving mathematical problem. I think we solved the problem explicitly as you can see on our video. We hope you understand.
