Non-Fiction- Viruses

In lockdown, Rm 7 have been learning about viruses and germs. We did slides and documents about what we should know about dangerous viruses and what we should do to stop the Covid-19 from spreading! This is slide is information about viruses, we got the information from a author named " Walter Reed ". Walter Reed discovered the first human virus in 1901. From this virus activity and the information written by Walter Reed helped me with knowing if viruses are dangerous or not, what I should do to stop the virus from spreading, knowing if viruses can be seen and more. This is what I did, I hope you learn something about viruses!

Simplifying Fractions

This morning on hangouts, Rm 7 were learning how to simplify proper fractions and improper fractions. Our teacher did the first two for each one so we can follow the steps that she used to solve it out, we were asked to answer the questions and record our voices but I didn't know how to do that so I explained it on google drawing. This activity was easier than our first task: multiplying, adding, subtracting, and dividing improper and proper fractions. This maths activity helped me with my multiplying and halving. This is what I did and I hope you learn something new as well!

Magic Fractions

In-Room 7, we have been learning to add, multiplication, division, and subtraction. We use all these strategies to solve magic fractions or mixed fraction. Magtegiesic fractions are when you use the strategies to solve fraction problems. For example 1/2 + 3/4= 4 + 6 = 10/8. Mixed fractions are when you add a whole number and a magic fraction with another whole number and a magic fractions. In this maths, activity is magic fraction and mixed fractions problems. We were told to show our work carefully so this is what I did with my buddy Janett. Hope you learn something from this maths activity!

Sequencing pictures- Walking home in the rain

Kio rana koutou In room 7, we were learning to sequence pictures in order. We haven't seen or read the book so we put them by the order we think it goes in. After sequencing the pictures in order, we had to rewrite the story in our own words. Since we weren't the expert for speaking in cook island, we chose to retell it in our own culture. From this activity, I have learned that I should always respect my own culture and to always speak in my language before it disappears.

Questioning beginning

Newsletter for pasifika

For this term, we started with a great project in which we integrated Maths, Inquiry, Reading, and Writing. Room 7 was presented with two projects where we need to decide on. We chose the classroom caterer but it turned into running a restaurant to celebrate so we can use all the skills that we have learnt about our careers. We first started from posing a question but then after we pose a question we don't answer it straight away. So after we pose a question, we have written down our planning. We collect data by asking questions to collect data. Next, we displayed the data and analyze then make a statement.  Now we all have a different job of creating menu, doing the budget and I was working on our News Letter that will go home.

Maths activity- mix fractions and magic fractions

We were learning to add, multiply, minus, an divide mix fractions with magic fractions. Our teacher gave us 6 questions to answer. We didn't understand a little so Mr Tafea made it easier for us to understand. Once we got it we got on with the fraction work, we were also told to show our work using strategies. This activity helps me with my multiplication and my additions.
